As a decisive step towards making essential medicines available, the Ministry of Health has officially announced a significant reduction in the prices of emergency medicines.
Cabinet approval, a major step in this effort, reflects the government’s commitment to improving access to health care.
Health Minister Nadeem Jan, the driving force behind this initiative, emphasized that the reduced prices are specifically aimed at medicines necessary for patients in intensive care units (ICU).
In particular, the drug Colistimethate Sodium is witnessing a significant drop in prices ranging from 55 to 65 percent.
Minister Nadeem Jan emphasized the impressive price adjustments when breaking down the numbers. The cost of 1 million unit injection, earlier at Rs 2,987, has now been reduced to Rs 1,036. Similarly, the 2 million injection, once priced at Rs 4,564, is now available at Rs 1,737. 3 crore injection, previously priced at Rs 5855, has been reduced to Rs 2591.

Undeterred by the challenging times, Minister Nadeem Jan expressed his unwavering determination to provide assistance to patients in need. He assured the public that the crackdown on fake and unregistered drugs will continue and emphasized the government’s commitment to ensure the safety and authenticity of medical supplies.
