ISLAMABAD: The Aurat March in Islamabad strongly condemned the “reprehensible act of harassment faced by a woman elected member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Assembly by PTI workers”.
In a post on X, the organization said: “Such patriarchal behavior of name-calling and slut-shaming, even on the floor of an assembly, is nothing but a clear violation of the fundamental rights and dignity of women in politics.
She called on PTI authorities to “immediately take steps to thoroughly investigate this incident and ensure that those responsible are held accountable for their actions”.
“Political differences should never be a justification for targeting or abusing individuals, especially on the basis of their gender,” he argues.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Sobia Shahid was verbally abused by Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters and some of them threw water bottles at her.
