Gujranwala Environment Department Fines Violators for Burning Waste and Pollution Control Lapses

GUJRANWALA: The Environment Department Gujranwala has continued enforcement action against violations of environmental laws to help protect air quality and promote a cleaner environment.

According to the department, a fine of Rs10,000 was imposed and recovered from a violator for openly burning solid waste.

In another case, an industrial unit was fined Rs100,000 for failing to effectively operate its installed environmental control system despite having the system in place.

The enforcement actions were carried out on the directions of Commissioner Gujranwala and Gujrat Divisions Muhammad Ali, in line with the Punjab government’s efforts to strengthen compliance with environmental regulations.

The department said enforcement against activities that contribute to air pollution and environmental degradation would continue, while stressing that compliance with environmental laws is a shared responsibility.
