GUJRANWALA: Environmental Protection Department teams have taken action against seven units in the Muraliwala area of Gujranwala for allegedly violating environmental laws, as part of an ongoing campaign to strengthen environmental compliance in the district.
The operation was conducted on the directions of Gujranwala and Gujrat Division Commissioner Muhammad Ali and Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala Naveed Ahmed, under the supervision of District Environment Deputy Director Muhammad Imran Mayo.
According to officials, legal action was initiated against units involved in illegal poultry protein production, fat melting and other activities found to be in violation of environmental regulations.
Demolition orders were issued against four units, while a demolition order was also served on Subhan Soap Factory.
During the operation, an illegal fat-melting unit was sealed from outside after its operators reportedly refused to open the premises for inspection. An open-burning site was also sealed as part of the enforcement action.
Officials have directed environmental authorities to continue action against units found violating environmental laws.
The enforcement drive highlights growing efforts to address activities that can contribute to air pollution, hazardous emissions, improper waste management and other environmental risks in industrial and commercial areas.
Effective enforcement of environmental regulations, along with regular monitoring and compliance by businesses, is essential to protecting public health and ensuring a cleaner and safer environment for local communities.
Authorities said action against environmental law violators would continue.
