Gujarat Titans secured their second IPL win by beating Sunrisers Hyderabad, powered by Mohit Sharma’s impressive bowling figures of 3-25 and David Miller’s unbeaten 44 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
The showdown saw Gujarat restrict Hyderabad to 162-8. The Titans were undeterred and chased down the target with seven wickets and five balls to spare.
Despite Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins’ nostalgic return to the stadium where he led Australia to a World Cup triumph, it was Gujarat who dominated proceedings. Shubman Gill, captain of the Titans, lauded the team’s performance and highlighted the key role played by the bowlers in restricting Hyderabad.
Gill’s contribution of 36, along with an attacking start led by Wriddhiman Saha’s blistering 25 off 13 balls, set the tone for the chase.
A key 64-run partnership between stand-in Sai Sudarshan and David Miller turned the tide in Gujarat’s favor. Sudarshan’s departure for a brave 45, courtesy of Cummins, did not deter Miller, who anchored the innings alongside Vijay Shankar and guided Gujarat to victory with an unbeaten 30-run partnership.

With 49 runs needed from the last 30 balls, Miller and Sudarshan took the initiative and smashed Mayank Markande for 24 runs in the 16th over, effectively sealing the match.
Meanwhile, Mohit Sharma’s disciplined bowling dismantled Hyderabad’s batting line-up and claimed key wickets, including that of Abhishek Sharma. Rashid Khan’s spin added pressure and dismissed Heinrich Klaasen.
Reflecting on the match, Cummins admitted that Hyderabad fell short by 10-15 runs and credited the Gujarat bowlers for their exceptional performance. The defeat marked Hyderabad’s second loss in three matches, dampening their hopes after their title triumph in 2016 under David Warner.
