Strengthening Seed Research for Sustainable Agriculture
Seed research and development are important components of agricultural productivity and resilience. Improved seed varieties, supported by scientific research and appropriate testing, can help farmers respond to changing growing conditions, crop diseases and other agricultural challenges.
As climate change increases pressure on water resources and agricultural systems, research into suitable and resilient crop varieties is increasingly relevant to sustainable food production in Pakistan.
The meeting and Seed Centre visit highlighted the potential for cooperation between agricultural research institutions and relevant initiatives. Further details about specific joint projects or implementation plans were not provided.
