In ancient times, some of the Arabs tribes used to loot caravans and travelers. They hide in a forest or garden in their area and rob people passing by and demonstrate their power.
Once a caravan comprising women, men, elders and children was passing through a same area of Arabia, where the locals had already set an ambush for them in the form of robbers. As soon as the people of the caravan approached them, they attacked them and after looting all the goods, as a reward for the resistance of the caravan, they killed two of their unarmed people and fled, waving their swords and celebrating the victory.
The people of the poor caravan, mourning the death of their loved ones, continued to follow in the footsteps of their caravan leader, crying and beating. But no one came to their aid or raised their voice in their favor.
After traveling for a few days, the caravan stopped in a desert to spend the night. The women of the caravan started preparing food for cooking, and the men started arranging wood from around to light a fire. It was night time and the light of the fire could be seen very easily from a distance.
Some hungry horsemen who had lost their way saw the fire burning and came towards it. Now call it fate or a play of nature that these horsemen were the same bandits who had earlier robbed this caravan and then killed two of their men.
All these masked bandits went to the caravan leader and said, “We have lost our way, and we are also very hungry. If we can find some food and a suitable place to rest for a while, it will be a great blessing…”
The leader of the caravan immediately ordered his people to! “Quickly, show hospitality to the guests and do not show any negligence in this regard, because guests come by the mercy of Allah.”
When these robbers had eaten well and had also overcome their fatigue, one robber said to the leader of the caravan, “Of course, if we did not have masks on our faces and you recognized us, you would never have treated us so well, because you do not know who we are??”
The leader of the caravan smiled and said, “Dear! Indeed, you people have covered your faces with masks and it is also dark at night. But how can I forget the faces hidden inside your masks? You are all the same people who first robbed us and then killed two of our people, one of whom was my own brother!”
Hearing the words of the caravan leader, the robbers were shocked and said, “Then why did you treat us so well even after knowing everything?” The caravan leader said, “This is a matter of our own fate. That day we were your guests, you did what you could with us, but today you are our guests, we did what we could with you, Allah is watching everything and He will reward you for it…”
