Govt committed to growth, productivity of agri sector: minister

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain has taken additional charge of the Ministry of National Food Security and Research.

The minister said that all resources will be used for the development of agriculture in the country. “Pakistan’s growth and prosperity depend on the development of agriculture,” he said, adding that he would take practical steps to promote agriculture in Pakistan.

The minister said that an integrated strategy for agricultural development will be developed. The Minister said that Pakistan has a rich agricultural heritage of various crops and products which not only feed our nation but also have the potential to contribute significantly to our economy.

The minister said that agriculture in Pakistan is facing many challenges that threaten its development and sustainability. “Climate change, water scarcity, lack of access to modern technology and markets are some of the challenges we must face in the coming days to realize the full potential of our agriculture,” he said.
