Islamabad: The government has taken a big decision to stop smuggling of commodities including sugar, wheat and fertilizer.
Rangers and FC have been assigned powers to prevent smuggling, FBR has also issued an official notification.
According to the notification issued by FBR, FC and Rangers personnel will be authorized to stop smuggling of essential commodities at joint inter-provincial check posts.
According to the notification, paramilitary personnel deputed on duty will prevent smuggling of flour, wheat, sugar and fertilizer at check posts, FC and Rangers will monitor areas within 50 km of the international border, FC and Rangers personnel will Al Subai will also give duty at joint check posts and joint check posts.
According to the FBR notification, FC and Rangers personnel will not be authorized to conduct surveillance in urban areas, customs areas and stations and ports, paramilitary personnel will also not be posted at border customs stations, international airports and bonded warehouses.
According to the notification, FC and Rangers personnel will be authorized to conduct operations only in urban areas near the Afghan border.
It should be noted that earlier only Pakistan Customs had the authority to take action against smuggling in Pakistan.
