Google Meet’s Face Touchup arrives on desktops

Google Meet is introducing face filters for “light” skin retouching before an online meeting in the desktop version of the app. This feature was launched last year in mobile apps. A choice of two different filters, gentle and soothing, with light skin enhancement, under eye brightening, and eye whitening with the former.

For the anti-aliasing filter, all three effects are enhanced for a better look. Users can find filters by using the “Use Visual Effects” setting in Meet and selecting “Appearance”. The retouch filter is expected to roll out today only to premium users with Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, and Teaching & Learning Upgrade.

This will also include Google One and Google Workspace Individual subscribers. Google is lagging in video conferencing because its rivals Microsoft and Zoom released such filters to their users much earlier.
