A 19-year-old woman suffered a serious jaw injury when she attempted to bite into a jawbreaker candy that was three inches in diameter. The incident occurred when the Canadian student, Javeria Wasim, tried to bite the hard candy after seeing many people online eating smaller jawbreaker candies, though she had never seen anyone attempt to bite one that large.
Deciding to try it for herself turned out to be her worst decision. While she was only able to make a slight mark on the outer layer of the candy, she suddenly felt intense pain in her lower jaw. A friend of Javeria later revealed that one of her teeth had broken off, and when Javeria checked herself, she discovered that another tooth was loose. The pain was so severe that every time she opened her mouth, she experienced sharp throbbing.
Her friend immediately called for an ambulance, and later, an X-ray revealed that Javeria had fractured her jaw in two places from trying to bite into the hard candy.
