Former army general (retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court seeking registration of cases against military officers and journalists, including the former army chief.
IHC Chief Justice Aamir Farooq said it was right that it was a normal case and some big people were involved in it. The FIA said it had to first ascertain whether there was any crime in the case. The court then issued notice to General Bajwas’s complaint and sought feedback.
Advocate Umer Ijaz Gilani, representing Qamar Javed Bajwa, opposed the plea, pointing out that it would be handed over after six months.
However, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said that if a complaint is received, they will see it by the law and then take a decision.
Chief Justice Farooq said that despite the presence of several important personalities, it was a simple and transparent affair. He also said that the FIA should ascertain whether any criminal activity has taken place before taking further action.
“I will not name the senior judge who gave the order, but I will not order it,” the CJ said.

Journalist representative Javed Chaudhry also objected. For this, JJ said, the FIA should decide the investigation according to the rules and regulations. “There is a request, we will decide according to the law,” he said.
Chief Justice Aamir Farooq said the court cannot file a case against the FIA and the case can be referred to the court if necessary. He told the investigating officers that they should be investigated under the law, adding that this includes journalists among them.
In its latest directive, the court directed the court to decide the complaint against the FIA. The hearing was temporarily adjourned.
