Rawalpindi (Feb 12, 2026): A team from the Department of Law at Fatima Jinnah Women University has qualified for the international rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition after securing 4th position nationwide in the Pakistan national rounds.

Competing in Karachi against 33 universities from across the country, the FJWU team emerged as the only public sector university to advance to the global rounds, scheduled to be held in Washington, D.C. The Jessup Competition is widely regarded as the world’s largest and most prestigious moot court contest.

The team members — Adeeba Rashed, Eman Nasrullah, Irmash Malik, Kainat Shabbir, and Khushbakht Rashid — represented the university after months of legal research, written submissions, and advocacy training. Over four days of competition, they advanced through four preliminary rounds, followed by the Octa-Final and Quarter-Final stages, ultimately achieving a top national ranking.

The team was mentored by faculty coach Dr. Munazza Razzaq and student coach Ms. Rabia Ibrar Khan, who guided the students through intensive preparation and oral advocacy practice.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (PoP, TI) congratulated the students and faculty on the achievement. In a statement, she said the qualification for the global rounds reflects the academic strength and determination of the university’s students and highlights the potential of public sector institutions to compete at international platforms.

By advancing to the international rounds in Washington, D.C., the FJWU law team will represent Pakistan at a global forum of legal scholarship and advocacy.
