RAWALPINDI: Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) celebrated Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day with a vibrant programme highlighting patriotism, national unity, creativity, women’s empowerment and student talent.
The celebrations were organized by the Student Affairs Office and attended by Madam Tehseen Fawad, MPA Punjab Assembly and Member Syndicate, along with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (Pride of Performance, T.I.), Pro Vice Chancellor, Deans, Chairpersons, faculty members, staff, students and children.
The programme commenced with a flag-hoisting ceremony and tree plantation, led by the Vice Chancellor. The activities reflected the university’s commitment to both national pride and environmental responsibility.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza emphasized that “Independence is both a gift and a responsibility.” She highlighted FJWU’s role as Pakistan’s first women’s university in empowering women, nurturing talent and preparing students to contribute to a stronger, progressive and prosperous Pakistan.
The ceremony was followed by a range of cultural performances showcasing the creativity and enthusiasm of students. The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony and tea.
A special tribute was also paid to the university’s student societies for their dedication, teamwork, creativity and contribution to making the Independence Day celebrations successful.
As part of the celebrations, FJWU organized several competitions, including speech, poetry, milli naghma, poster making, pledge ceremony and Made in Pakistan prototype competitions. Winners presented their performances and were awarded certificates in recognition of their achievements.
The Certificate Distribution Ceremony of the Mentoring Program for Universities was also held as part of the programme.
The celebrations concluded with a Dua for the safety and well-being of Pakistan’s Armed Forces, peace and prosperity in the country, and compassion and support for people facing hardships around the world.
The event reflected FJWU’s broader commitment to developing confident, creative and socially responsible young women who can play a meaningful role in Pakistan’s future.
