Lahore: Five suspects have been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of former Pakistani actress and model Zainab Jamil.
According to details, DIG Operations Lahore has issued a special task to SP Cantt to arrest the suspects in the attack on Zainab Jamil.
A team was formed under the leadership of SP Kant Owais Shafiq to arrest the suspect. SHO South Cantt Imran Khan and SHO Defense B Dawood Ahmed and their police team used modern technology to arrest the suspect.
In the main operation, the police have arrested five people suspected of trying to kill Zainab Jamil. According to the police spokesperson, the suspects include Zia-ur-Rehman, Javed Iqbal, Adil, Tayyab and Raza. SP Kant Owais Shafiq said that hundreds of CCTV footages were examined during the investigation. Zia provided motorbikes and guns to the shooters.
SP Cantt further said that Zia brought the shooter to the spot and took it back after the firing. The shooters flew from Karachi to Lahore and returned by road.
Owais Shafiq said that the direct shooter Zainab Jamil is from Karachi and a team has been sent to Karachi to arrest them.
He also said that Zia Zainab Jamil has a 5.5 million financial dispute with her husband Sardar Jamil, who is currently on bail till June 30.
SP Cantt revealed that Zainab Jamil got married to Sardar Jamil in 2017, which was Sardar Jamil’s second marriage. He turned against Zainab, who works in the showbiz industry.
Owais Shafiq said that strict action will be taken against those who take the law into their own hands and elements involved in violence and abuse of women will be prosecuted.
Last month, Zainab Jamil was attacked outside her salon in Lahore’s Defense Area. As soon as the car stopped outside the salon, two assailants on a motorbike approached and shot him before fleeing.
In this assassination attempt, Zainab Jamil was hit by six bullets. She later released a statement from the hospital while she was being treated, accusing her husband, Sardar Jamil, of being the mastermind behind the attack.
