NARAN, September 14, 2026: The District Officer Fisheries, Mansehra, Mrs. Samavia Neelofer, conducted a field visit to water turbines at Saiful Malook Nallah, Jhalkad and Besar in Naran to assess their potential impact on trout breeding and fish movement.
During the visit, the fisheries official examined the operation of the turbines and their possible effects on aquatic habitats and the movement of fish along the waterways.
Turbine owners and operators were briefed on the importance of adopting fisheries-friendly operational measures to minimise disruption to fish habitats and reduce the risk of fish entrainment, injury and mortality associated with turbine operations.
Relevant field data was also collected during the visit for further technical assessment and to support the development of appropriate management measures.
The initiative is aimed at promoting responsible and sustainable use of water resources while protecting trout populations and their natural breeding habitats in the Naran area.
The fisheries authorities stressed the importance of balancing local water and energy needs with the conservation of aquatic ecosystems to ensure the long-term sustainability of trout resources.
