Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir leads Corps Commanders’ Conference, warns against political exploitation of terrorism

Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Army held its 273rd Corps Commanders’ Conference at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, chaired by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, according to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Participants offered Fateha for members of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and civilians killed in recent terrorist incidents. The forum reviewed the country’s internal and external security environment, with a focus on evolving threats and operational preparedness.

During the conference, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir oversaw a review of ongoing intelligence-based counterterrorism operations across the country. The forum discussed operational challenges and reaffirmed that militant groups, along with their facilitators, would be addressed through sustained security measures.

Participants also examined what they described as links between terrorism, criminal activity, and political interests, stating that actions aimed at undermining national security or creating divisions between the armed forces and the public would not be tolerated.

Development initiatives discussed under Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir

The conference reviewed security-related development initiatives in Balochistan, including programs focused on local engagement and governance. Participants noted the need for similar public-centric initiatives in other regions, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in line with the National Action Plan.

Regional issues and operational readiness

The forum reiterated Pakistan’s position on Kashmir, reaffirming support for the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people. Participants also discussed the situation in Gaza, calling for a ceasefire, humanitarian access, and progress toward Palestinian statehood.

In concluding remarks, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir directed commanders to maintain operational readiness, training standards, and preparedness to respond to conventional, sub-conventional, and hybrid security threats.
