TOBA TEK SINGH: Additional Superintendent Engineer (Operations) FESCO Division Toba Tek Singh, Rao Abid Bashir, has urged citizens to strictly follow electrical safety precautions during the ongoing monsoon season to prevent accidents caused by rain and flooding.
In a public message, he said the risk of electrical accidents increases significantly during heavy rains, making it essential for people to protect themselves, their families, and others by following safety guidelines. He added that FESCO’s top priority is to provide safe, reliable and uninterrupted electricity while ensuring public safety.
Rao Abid Bashir advised people not to touch electrical switches, plugs, meters or appliances with wet hands, as moisture greatly increases the risk of electric shock. He also warned the public to stay away from electricity poles, transformers and power lines, especially during rainfall.
He urged citizens not to use electrical appliances unnecessarily during rain and to immediately report any broken, hanging or fallen power lines to the nearest FESCO office or the utility’s helpline instead of going near them.
He appealed to parents to keep children away from electricity poles, transformers and other electrical installations and educate them about the dangers of electricity. Livestock owners were also advised not to tie animals near electricity poles or power installations, as wet conditions can increase the risk of electric current and cause serious harm.
The FESCO official further said that any incidents involving short circuits, fallen wires or other electrical emergencies should be reported immediately so technical teams can respond without delay.
Concluding his message, Rao Abid Bashir reminded the public that “Safety begins with precaution,” urging everyone to follow electrical safety instructions during the monsoon season and help create a safer community. He reaffirmed FESCO’s commitment to ensuring the safe and reliable supply of electricity across the region.
