Karachi: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) held a tax awareness outreach seminar at HUM TV Network in Karachi as part of its ongoing efforts to inform corporate stakeholders about tax obligations and compliance procedures.
The seminar was conducted on the instructions of FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial and under the supervision of Member Taxpayers’ Services Wing Tehmina Aamer.
FBR outlines tax responsibilities and compliance requirements
The delegation included Secretary Taxpayers’ Services Abdul Hameed Abro and Second Secretary Tariq Asad. Abdul Hameed Abro delivered a presentation on taxpayers’ responsibilities, followed by a question-and-answer session addressing common issues related to tax filing and the functions of Federal Board of Revenue.
Discussion on tax system and enforcement measures
During the session, participants were briefed on the structure of direct and indirect taxes and their role in government revenue. FBR officials explained the eligibility criteria for becoming a tax filer, the legal obligations attached to filing, and the enforcement framework currently in place.
Officials also stated that Federal Board of Revenue is using expanded data sources and technology-based tools, including artificial intelligence, to identify non-compliance and tax evasion.
Participation by HUM TV Network management
Senior management of HUM TV Network attended the seminar, including Chief Finance Officer Muhammad Abbas Hussain and other executives. The session concluded with the exchange of souvenirs between FBR officials and HUM TV Network management.
