FBR officials conduct tax awareness seminar at Capital Police College in Islamabad.

ISLAMABAD — The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) conducted a tax awareness seminar at the Capital Police College in Islamabad as part of efforts to broaden the tax base, improve compliance and promote transparency in Pakistan’s revenue system.

The outreach session, organised by the Taxpayers’ Services Wing (TPS) on the instructions of FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial and under the supervision of Member TPS Tehmima Aamir, brought together newly inducted station house officers (SHOs), inspectors and senior police officials at the Police Lines in H-11.

The FBR team included Muhammad Muti-ur-Rehman Mumtaz, Secretary (Taxpayers Education & Facilitation), Abdul Rehman Sheikh, Second Secretary (Facilitation), and other officials. The Capital Police College was represented by SSP Shams-ul-Haq Durrani and officers from the Police Service.

Focus on reforms and compliance

During the session, officials presented an overview of Pakistan’s taxation framework and highlighted reforms introduced under the FBR Transformation Plan approved by the prime minister.

Key initiatives discussed included Point of Sale (POS) integration, the Track and Trace system, digital invoicing, faceless customs operations, the Direct Port Delivery System, a reward and rating mechanism, and video analytics for production monitoring in the sugar and cement sectors, with expansion planned for textiles.

According to FBR officials, these measures aim to improve documentation of economic activity, enhance tax compliance and strengthen accountability across the revenue system.

Interactive discussion on income taxation

Participants engaged in discussion on income taxation and compliance procedures during a question-and-answer session, where FBR representatives provided practical guidance on facilitation and filing requirements.

The seminar concluded with the distribution of informational material to attendees.

FBR said the event reflects its ongoing efforts to build institutional engagement and promote a transparent and facilitative tax system through awareness and education initiatives.
