Emphasis on digital transformation

Officials said the session focused on explaining FBR’s transformation plan, which includes structural and technological reforms intended to widen the tax base, enhance institutional credibility, and improve revenue collection efficiency.

Secretary Taxpayers’ Services Wing Abdul Hameed Abro, along with Second Secretary (Media) Tariq Asad, delivered a detailed presentation on key reform initiatives.

These included Point of Sale integration, Track and Trace systems, digital invoicing, the faceless customs system, cargo tracking, direct port delivery, reward and rating mechanisms, and the use of video analytics to monitor industrial production.

Automation and oversight measures

Participants were informed that video analytics has already been implemented in the sugar and cement sectors and is being extended to the textile sector. Officials said these measures aim to reduce manual intervention, enable real-time monitoring, and strengthen transparency and accountability.

FBR officials noted that automation, artificial intelligence, and faceless systems have helped improve taxpayer confidence by ensuring consistent application of tax laws and limiting direct interaction between taxpayers and officials.

Business participation

Senior Vice President FPCCI Saqib Fayyaz, Vice President Amaan Paracha, Vice President Asif Sakhi, and Advisor on Tax Matters Danish Saleem attended the seminar. Representatives from chambers of commerce and trade bodies also participated online and raised questions during the interactive session.

The seminar concluded with the exchange of souvenirs, with officials reaffirming FBR’s commitment to continued engagement with stakeholders and reforms aimed at transparent and accountable revenue administration.
