Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has declared that his party will not participate in the election process for National Assembly Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Prime Minister.
Speaking to the media after the Lower House meeting to administer oath to the newly elected members, Maulana categorically stated that the JUI-F will not participate in this Parliament and will sit on the opposition benches.
When asked how it was to come to the rally again, the JUI-F chief said it was not a rally but something else. When asked again whether his party would resort to a protest or a freedom march against the recent elections, he urged “wait and watch”.
When asked by a journalist if he thought the new council would complete its five-year term, Fazl said it did not look that way. “We will not be part of the election of the chairman and vice-chairman of the National Assembly and the prime minister,” he emphasized.
He went on to say that they consider this parliament less a representative of the people and more a “representative of the establishment”.

After the national anthem, the elected MNAs of the Sunni Ittehad council gathered in front of the lectern and created a ruckus with a strong protest with slogans and chants. As a result, PML-N members also reacted by chanting slogans of “Ghari chor (watch out for thieves)” against the PTI and its leadership.
