Before the Women’s T20 World Cup, Pakistan cricket team’s captain Nida Dar has been replaced by Fatima Sana, who will now lead the national team.
The Women’s National Selection Committee has unanimously appointed Fatima Sana as the captain of the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates from October 3 to 20.
In the 2024 T20 World Cup, Pakistan has been placed in Group A alongside Australia, Sri Lanka, India, and New Zealand. The schedule will be announced later.
The squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 includes Fatima Sana (captain), Alia Riaz, Diana Baig, Gul Feroza, Erum Javed, Muneeba Ali (wicketkeeper), Nashra Sandhu, Nida Dar, Aimee Sohail, Sadia Iqbal (subject to fitness), Sidra Amin, Syeda Aroob Shah, Tasmia Rubbab, and Tuba Hassan. Additionally, Najiha Alvi (wicketkeeper) will travel with the team as a reserve player, while Rameen Shamim and Um-e-Hani are also part of the squad.
Notably, 22-year-old Fatima Sana has represented Pakistan in 41 One Day Internationals and 40 T20 Internationals. She has previously captained Pakistan Emerging and domestic teams. In December 2023, she captained the Pakistan team in an ODI against New Zealand at Hagley Oval, a match remembered for Pakistan’s spectacular victory in the Super Over.
