The European Union has accused BlueSky of violating information disclosure regulations.
A spokesperson for the European Commission informed journalists during a briefing that, “All social media platforms, no matter how small, that have started operating in the European Union, are required to create a specific page on their website detailing how many users they have in Europe and where they are legally established. However, BlueSky has not yet provided this information.”
The spokesperson further stated that since BlueSky does not fall under the definition of a “very large platform” under the European Union’s Digital Services Act, the Commission has not yet contacted the company.
However, the European Commission has requested all 27 member state governments to attempt to obtain information about BlueSky. BlueSky has not responded to any requests for comment.
