ISLAMABAD: H.E. Jemal Beker Abdula, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan hosted an Iftar banquet for members of parliament, government officials, diplomatic corps, ambassadors, the Ethiopian diaspora and many prominent civil society and media figures Pakistan.
Distinguished guests including Senator H.E. Mushahid Hussain, Senior MP H.E. Romina Khursheed Alam, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Africa, H.E. Zafar Bakhtawari, President of the Africa-Pakistan Association, High Commissioner of Mauritius to Pakistan, H.E. Rashidally Soobadar and COMSATS Executive Director H.E. Nafees Zakaria graced the iftar dinner.
HE. Jemal Beker Abdula warmly welcomed the guests upon their arrival at his residence in Islamabad.
Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Ambassador Jemal Beker Abdula congratulated Muslims in Ethiopia, Pakistan, and the world on the holy month of Ramazan, which brought blessings to all on this globe.
He said that Pakistan is a land of generous people who love to share with others around them in a deep sense of compassion, friendliness, and affection.
The ambassador also spoke about Ethiopia and its linguistic, social, religious, and cultural diversity. Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia, regularly witnessed the spectacular street Iftar, which felt festive during the holy month of Ramazan, he noted.
The ambassador also spoke about the social, cultural, political, and economic similarities between the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
He said both countries are heirs of ancient civilizations and share the values of peace, justice, equality, and democracy.
The Ambassador expressed his gratitude to all the guests for gracing the Iftar dinner with their distinguished presence and emphasized that these gatherings are to further strengthen the already flourishing bilateral relations between the two countries.
