Manchester United manager Erik van Haag has lined up young striker Rasmus Hojlund as the Danish talent steps up in his first season at Old Trafford.
Despite his £64million move from Atalanta in August, the 21-year-old has managed just one goal in his last outing, notably in the draw against Sheffield United.
Hojlund’s defender, On Hag, recorded an impressive record of 14 goals in 40 games this season, emphasizing the youth of the player and the need to be patient as he develops. Admitting three injuries, including one in the striker’s midfield, ten Hag said it is important to develop Hojlund’s potential for immediate and future success.
Hojlund’s contribution, especially with five goals in the Champions League, failed to save United from an early exit from the group stage. However, his revival at the start of the year with seven goals in six games was hampered by a hamstring injury.
Believing in Hojlund’s stamina and determination, the ten Hags hope to once again form a striker. When United face Newcastle at Old Trafford, ten Hags will emphasize the importance of winning in a difficult season where injuries and inconsistent performances have damaged their European qualification hopes.
With Lisandro Martinez likely to return and compete with key players such as Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, the ten Hags recognize the urgency of the situation given the current eighth place in the league table and insist they are ready to fight for victory against Newcastle.
