SARGODHA: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Sargodha has launched enforcement action against stone-crushing units found operating in violation of the Smog Prevention and Control Rules, 2023.
During an inspection operation, an EPA Sargodha team identified four stone-crushing units allegedly failing to comply with environmental regulations designed to control air pollution and smog.
The authorities subsequently sealed all four units and imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on each, bringing the total fines to Rs400,000.
The action forms part of ongoing efforts by the EPA to curb activities contributing to air pollution and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
The department reiterated its commitment to enforcing environmental regulations and taking strict action against industrial and commercial activities that contribute to deteriorating air quality.
Officials stressed that effective enforcement, along with compliance by businesses and industries, is essential to improving air quality and protecting public health.
The EPA urged relevant stakeholders to comply with environmental laws and contribute to efforts aimed at ensuring cleaner air and a healthier environment in Sargodha.
