EPA Faisalabad Holds Pre-Smog Meeting with Brick Kiln Association

FAISALABAD: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Faisalabad has held a pre-smog consultative meeting with the Brick Kiln Association to promote environmental compliance and prepare kiln owners for the upcoming smog season.

Deputy Director Environment EPA Faisalabad Dr. Tahir Abbas Sial arranged the meeting, which was attended by the president, office-bearers and owners and representatives of brick kilns.

During the meeting, participants were briefed on the importance of Zigzag Technology and strict compliance with environmental guidelines and smog-related standard operating procedures.

The meeting also discussed the environmental and public health risks linked to the use of substandard fuel at brick kilns. Kiln owners were urged to use appropriate fuel and follow all required environmental measures to help reduce harmful emissions.

Awareness pamphlets featuring a new chimney colour scheme with a sky and cloud design were also distributed among participants. The design was introduced on the direction of the Director General of EPA Punjab to promote greater environmental awareness and compliance at brick kilns.

Officials urged brick kiln owners to complete all necessary environmental measures and ensure compliance with applicable guidelines before the beginning of the smog season.

A plantation activity was also organised at the brick kiln premises, where saplings were planted as part of efforts to promote the vision of a Clean and Green Punjab.

Dr. Tahir Abbas Sial stressed the importance of taking preventive and corrective measures before the smog season begins. He said proactive environmental management was essential for reducing pollution and protecting public health.

The meeting reflects the importance of cooperation between environmental authorities and the brick kiln sector in controlling emissions and supporting cleaner air during the smog season.
