According to Indian media reports, 32-year-old Mayur Tara Para worked as a computer operator in his relative’s diamond company and cut his fingers to avoid work.
The report stated that initially, he told the police that his fingers had gone missing after he fainted on the roadside. However, investigations revealed that he had done this to himself because he didn’t want to work and lacked the courage to refuse his relatives.
Earlier, he had told the police that on December 8, he was going to a friend’s house on a motorcycle when he felt dizzy and fainted.
Mayur Tara Para told the police that when he regained consciousness 10 minutes later, four fingers from his left hand were missing. The police initially suspected that someone had cut off his fingers for black magic purposes. The police registered a case and transferred the investigation to the crime branch, which, after reviewing CCTV footage, found Mayur Tara Para to be involved.
Three fingers were recovered from his bag, and the whereabouts of the fourth finger are still being investigated.
