ISLAMABAD: On February 8, which is the day that Pakistan’s general elections are set to take place, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) declared a public holiday.
All public and private educational institutions as well as enterprises would be closed on that day, according to a notification from the electoral body.
According to the election body, the decision was made to guarantee a high voter turnout on election day, when voting is set to begin at 8 a.m. and end at 6 p.m.
The polling schedule for the polls scheduled for February 8 was already made public by the ECP.
