The City Traffic Police (CTP) has said that the driving license easement management system will not be available to residents for four days due to system modernization.
The licensing system will be closed from May 23 at 5 pm to May 27 at 3 am.
Amara Athar, director general of traffic, Lahore, said that during this period, no student permit, renewal exemption of license or international license will be issued.
He invited residents to visit the license office on May 27 after 3 p.m.
CTO Lahore said that no trouble tickets will be issued to e-licence holders.
Punjab has announced major changes to its motor vehicle regulations. The Punjab Police has allowed failed driving test candidates to retake the test after a short two-week wait, as opposed to the previous six weeks.
Earlier, the government announced a significant increase in driver’s license fees, causing mixed reactions among citizens.
According to the notification, the fee for learner’s license has been increased significantly from Rs 300 to Rs 1,000. People now have to pay $3,000 to get a full driver’s license. However, there is a silver lining for Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers as the PSV license fee has been reduced to $10,000.
In a move likely to upset motorcyclists, the cost of a motorcycle license has also increased, now $10,000. In addition, applicants will be required to pay $2,000 for digitization for each type of license.
