Dr. Affan faces Rs 10 billion lawsuit from Faisalabad traders

Business communities in Faisalabad have taken legal action against Dr. Affan Kayser, a transplant hepatologist and gastroenterologist in Pakistan, on the controversial statement about watermelon vaccination.

Faisalabad Traders Association applied to register a case at Ghulam Muhammad Police Station.

Dr Affa’s social media post, stating that watermelons are injected with harmful substances, went viral and created fear in the community.

In a petition filed by the traders, it was said that his remarks caused chaos and affected both traders and households. They claimed that billions of rupees were lost due to reduced sales of watermelons and panic among consumers.

The plaintiffs filed a legal notice demanding $10 billion in fines against Dr. Affan, suing him for wrongful stress caused by the economic downturn and unreasonable claims.

“Dr. Affa’s reckless comments not only harmed our business, but also tried to create chaos across the country,” he said.
