In a strange incident in China, a police-trained dog lost its annual bonus after being caught sleeping during office hours and urinating in its food bowl.
According to local media reports, the dog named Fozui joined the police force in Weifang city immediately after birth. As a four-month-old puppy, Fozui was trained as an explosive detection operative in January 2024 and soon became viral on Chinese social media.
The recent incident of Fozui’s bonus being revoked was shared by the Weifang Public Security Bureau on social media. The dog was initially presented with a red flower, snacks in a box, and toys by a police officer as a humorous acknowledgment of its services. However, the officer then pointed out the dog’s mistakes, including sleeping during work hours and urinating in its food bowl, and revoked the rewards.
The officer said, “You performed excellently this year. You passed the Level 4 exam for police dogs, successfully completed various security tasks, and significantly helped in training other dogs. However, due to your recent behavior, including sleeping at work and urinating in your food bowl, you will be deprived of your bonus.”
