Dense fog has settled over Lahore and various cities in Punjab, drastically reducing visibility to zero. As a result, several motorways have been closed at multiple locations due to poor visibility.
The heavy fog also caused disruption at Lahore Airport, where a Saudi Airlines flight, SV 738, coming from Jeddah, was not allowed to land and had to be redirected to Islamabad Airport.
Furthermore, the fog led to traffic problems on motorways. Sections of Motorway M-2 from Lahore to Kot Momin, M-3 from Lahore to Abdul Hakeem, M-4 from Pindi Bhattian to Multan, and M-5 from Sheer Shah to Rohri were closed. Traffic on the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway M-11 was also restricted. Authorities have urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel.
In addition to the fog, the northern areas of the country are experiencing cold temperatures due to snowfall and rainfall. A new snowfall episode has begun in Skardu, covering the area in a blanket of white. Rain and snowfall have also been reported in Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, and surrounding areas, intensifying the cold. The weather has also turned colder in Swat and Chitral, while northern Balochistan may experience rain starting today.
