Pakistan’s Consul General in Dubai, Hussain Muhammad, has stressed the importance of climate action and youth leadership, saying Pakistan remains among the countries most affected by climate change despite contributing less than one percent to global emissions.
He was speaking at an event organised by Earth Warriorz and the Pakistan Youth Forum at the Pakistan Association Dubai, where the documentary The Last Village was screened. The event aimed to engage Pakistani youth and members of the diaspora in dialogue on climate change, community resilience, and sustainable development.

Addressing the gathering, the consul general appreciated the efforts of Emaan Danish, founder of Earth Warriorz, and her team, and commended the Pakistan Youth Forum for mobilising young Pakistanis around an issue of both national and global importance.
He highlighted Pakistan’s commitments under its updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0), including targets for emissions reduction, expansion of renewable energy, and large-scale afforestation initiatives. He said these measures reflect Pakistan’s resolve to address climate challenges despite limited responsibility for global emissions.
Mr. Hussain emphasised the need for stronger international cooperation, enhanced climate finance, and effective technology transfer, urging developed countries to support developing nations in building climate resilience and adapting to climate-related risks.
Underscoring the role of youth in driving climate action, the consul general encouraged collective efforts towards a more sustainable and resilient future. He said The Last Village effectively highlights the severe impact of climate change on vulnerable communities in Swat, Pakistan, and demonstrates that climate change is not only an environmental issue but also a humanitarian and socio-economic challenge.
The event was held in Dubai on February 2, 2026, and was attended by members of the Pakistani community, youth activists, and representatives of civil society organisations.
