A young man in China, who had been suffering from constant sneezing and a runny nose, had a coin removed from his nostril after more than 20 years.
According to the South China Morning Post, 23-year-old Xiaoma from Shanxi province in northern China had been experiencing sneezing, nasal congestion, and a runny nose for nearly a month. After failing to treat himself with traditional Chinese medicine, Xiaoma sought medical help at Xi’an Gaoshan Hospital.
Hospital medical records indicated that Xiaoma was diagnosed with allergic rhinitis, and it was discovered that something was stuck in his nose. Further examination through a nasal endoscopy conducted by Dr. Ying Rong revealed that there was a coin lodged in his nasal passage.
Dr. Ying explained that during the endoscopy, a white foreign object was visible stuck in Xiaoma’s nose. When removed, it was found to be a 2-centimeter coin that had been damaging the internal lining of his nose.
Xiaoma mentioned that when he was three or four years old, it was likely that the coin accidentally got lodged in his nose, though it’s unclear how it reached that part of his nasal cavity.
