A young Chinese woman is gaining significant attention by portraying herself as a robot with a special outfit, robotic movements, and an expressionless face. In a time when companies are investing billions in robotics and AI to make robots look more human, this young woman is attempting to mimic a robot. Known as the “Robot Girl” on Chinese social media, she first caught attention during the 2024 World Robotics Conference in Beijing last August. Standing next to a hyper-realistic humanoid robot, she confused the audience, leaving many unable to tell which one was human and which one was a robot. Since then, she has gained fame in China and become a popular online creator, known as the country’s leading “Robot Girl.”
