ChatGPT Creator’s CEO Makes a Shocking Prediction About Smartphones

OpenAI has been working extensively to enhance artificial intelligence (AI) technology, and now the company’s CEO, Sam Altman, has predicted that the era of smartphones will soon come to an end.

In a recent interview, Sam Altman hinted that OpenAI is working on an alternative to smartphones. He stated that OpenAI wants to develop ChatGPT hardware (in simple terms, devices) as a replacement for smartphones.

Speaking to Japanese media, he discussed OpenAI’s future plans and said, “We expect that through partnerships, we will be able to develop a ChatGPT AI hardware device.”

It remains unclear when this device will be introduced and when it will be available to consumers. The ambition to end the era of smartphones is surprising, especially coming from a company that has never developed a mobile device before.

However, it is not impossible. In 2007, Apple introduced the iPhone, which marked the beginning of the smartphone era and nearly eliminated the use of old keypad mobile phones.

With advancements in AI technology, this seems feasible. AI chatbots like ChatGPT could make new devices more user-friendly, potentially eliminating the need for screens altogether.

OpenAI is not the only company discussing the end of smartphones. Apple is also working on augmented reality (AR) glasses, which it hopes will make people forget about iPhones.

Compared to Apple, OpenAI’s strategy is expected to be different. What the ChatGPT AI device will look like remains to be seen.
