‘Captaincy not my concern’, says Shaheen Afridi

Pakistan cricket team’s fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi on Monday said that he is committed to playing for Pakistan with honor and is not preoccupied with thoughts of captaincy.

Speaking to the media in Karachi, Afridi emphasized that the captaincy issue was beyond his control. “The captaincy is not in my hands, so I don’t think about it,” he noted.

The pace ace reiterated his commitment to focus on his performance and remain positive. “My training is not such that I focus on negative things,” he added.

As for his potential inclusion in the squad for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh, Afridi admitted uncertainty.

It is pertinent to mention that after Pakistan’s defeat in the ODI World Cup last year, Babar Azam stepped down as captain of all three formats.

However, Pakistan Cricket Board later re-appointed Babar Azam as captain for both ODI and T20 formats.
