Canberra: The man arrested for the murder of 4 members of a Pakistani family in Canada was declared guilty.
According to the foreign news agency, the 12-member jury said that the 22-year-old accused Nathaniel Veltman deliberately killed the Afzal family.
In June 2021, Nathaniel Veltman ran over 4 members of the family of Lahore-based physiotherapist Salman Afzal with a truck in London, Ontario. The accused killed 46-year-old Salman Afzal, his wife Madeeha Salman, 44-years-old, 15-year-old daughter Yumna and 74-year-old mother Talat Afzal by crushing them with a truck. The young son of the deceased family was also injured in the incident.
According to the report, 22-year-old Nathaniel Veltman could face life in prison. The accused had confessed to hitting Salman Afzal’s family with his pick-up truck. Nathaniel Weltman’s sentencing date is set for December 1.
In the nearly 10-week trial, the jury learned that Nathaniel Veltman had written a ‘terrorist manifesto’ on his computer in which he supported white nationalism and described his hatred of Muslims.
