A young gorilla lost its life due to human negligence at a zoo in Canada.
According to foreign media reports, a tragic incident occurred at the Calgary Zoo, located in the province of Alberta, where a helpless animal lost its life.
The 2-year-old female gorilla, named Ayra, belonged to the Western Lowland Gorilla species.
The zoo administration stated that Ayra was being taken for training, which required her to be separated from her gorilla group. However, the zookeeper mistakenly opened the wrong door, causing Ayra to get trapped, resulting in a severe head injury. Unfortunately, Ayra succumbed to the wounds.
Zoo director Colin Baird commented, “Ayra’s brief yet impactful life brought great joy to our community, and she will be deeply missed by everyone. We will make every effort to prevent such incidents in the future.”
It was further stated that the negligent zookeeper was immediately removed from their position, but they would be reassigned to another zoo in the area.
