The third International Conference on Recent Advances in Computing, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science, CAIDS-2025, concluded at Riphah International University, bringing together academics, researchers, policymakers, and industry professionals from Pakistan and abroad.
CAIDS-2025 held at Riphah International University
The conference was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Anis Ahmad, Vice Chancellor of Riphah International University, along with Dr. Najeebullah Marwat, Member (Science, Technology and ICT) at the Planning Commission of Pakistan. Dr. Muhammad Israr, Secretary of the Higher Education Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was also present at the opening session.
Research collaboration focus of CAIDS-2025
CAIDS-2025 provided a forum for presenting research and discussing developments in computing, artificial intelligence, and data science. Participants included researchers and representatives from academia, government, and industry, with discussions centered on technology-driven solutions relevant to Pakistan.
The conference was jointly organized by the University of Science and Technology Bannu, Riphah International University, University of Lakki Marwat, Gomal University, KIWI Bannu, and Multimedia University.
Institutional and research support
The conference received financial and technical support from partner institutions. It was supported by the Pakistan Science Foundation under a competitive research grant focused on artificial intelligence–based analysis of multilingual disinformation on social media. Support from the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan is under process.
Organizers said selected papers from CAIDS-2025 will be considered for publication in MMU Press journals, subject to further peer review.
Hybrid participation and academic discussions
CAIDS-2025 was held in a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and online participation to facilitate broader national and international engagement.
During the conference sessions, Prof. Dr. Anis Ahmad addressed the ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence, while Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zubair, Dean Faculty of Computing at Riphah International University, spoke on developments in Pakistan’s IT sector and the need for closer links between academia and industry.
Government perspective on higher education
Addressing the conference, Dr. Muhammad Israr highlighted government initiatives aimed at improving higher education access in underserved regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He pointed to the need for strengthening research facilities and digital infrastructure in remote areas.
Eight national and international universities participated in CAIDS-2025. Keynote speakers included vice chancellors from universities in Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Karak, Mansehra, Peshawar, and representatives from higher education institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Post-conference meeting on higher education
At the conclusion of CAIDS-2025, senior participants, including Dr. Muhammad Israr and multiple vice chancellors, held a meeting at Riphah International University to discuss higher education infrastructure and institutional capacity in southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Participants discussed coordination between universities and the provincial government, with a focus on improving access to higher education and expanding academic facilities in the region.
