BISP launches real-time digital dashboard for Benazir Nashonuma Programme

ISLAMABAD — The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has launched a real-time digital dashboard for the Benazir Nashonuma Programme, aimed at strengthening evidence-based monitoring of its stunting prevention initiative.

The dashboard was inaugurated by BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid alongside Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection Syed Imran Ahmed Shah. Representatives from the World Food Programme (WFP), UNICEF and World Health Organization also attended the launch ceremony.

Officials said the new system will provide real-time insights into programme implementation, enabling improved oversight and data-driven decision-making at both federal and provincial levels.

Focus on accountability and field monitoring

Speaking at the event, Senator Rubina Khalid said effective social protection requires transparency and close monitoring of field-level challenges. She noted that the dashboard would support timely tracking of programme performance and help ensure that nutritional interventions reach eligible mothers and children.

She added that collaboration with the Ministry of Health and development partners has strengthened monitoring mechanisms and improved coordination across institutions.

Federal Minister Syed Imran Ahmed Shah described malnutrition as a significant national challenge. He said poverty reduction must be linked to human development and confirmed that more than 4.3 million women and children have benefited from the Nashonuma Programme so far.

Programme impact and expansion

The Benazir Nashonuma Programme focuses on nutrition support during the first 1,000 days of life. According to officials, midline evaluations indicate measurable reductions in stunting, low birth weight, and early childhood malnutrition, including a reported 20 percent decline in stunting at six months.

The programme operates through 555 Facilitation Centres and 169 Nutrition Stabilization Centers across Pakistan.

With the launch of the digital dashboard, BISP aims to strengthen performance assessment, improve transparency, and enhance the effectiveness of social protection delivery nationwide.
