BISP chairperson holds meeting with PPP women leaders from Kurram on skills development

Islamabad — Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme, Senator Rubina Khalid, met a delegation of the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians Women’s Wing from District Kurram to discuss expanding skills training and employment opportunities for women through the Benazir Hunarmand Programme.

The delegation, headed by Women’s Wing President Amna Bibi, included educated young women and youth from the district. Discussions focused on developing a practical roadmap to equip women and their family members with market-oriented skills to improve income opportunities.

During the interaction, Senator Rubina Khalid engaged with participants to understand their skill preferences and areas of interest. She instructed the Benazir Hunarmand Programme team to collect detailed information from women in District Kurram regarding their existing competencies, training needs, and the presence of vocational institutions in the area.

The chairperson stressed that evidence-based planning would allow BISP, in coordination with partner institutions, to design targeted training initiatives aligned with local needs. She said such measures are aimed at enabling women to secure dignified livelihoods and strengthen household incomes.

Senator Rubina Khalid also encouraged the delegation to spread awareness at the community level about the Benazir Hunarmand Programme and its registration process to ensure greater outreach to deserving women.

The meeting also addressed concerns raised by the delegation over illegal deductions by bank agents from BISP stipends and other operational matters. The chairperson directed relevant officials to take immediate steps to resolve the complaints and ensure timely action.
