According to international media reports, Gates stated that the divorce was the biggest regret of his life, and it was painful and difficult for both him and Melinda. He mentioned that he had hoped their marriage would be as successful as his parents’ marriage, which lasted for 45 years. Gates added that when he met Melinda, he was already successful, but he became even more successful when they were together.
It is worth noting that Melinda had previously described her divorce from Bill Gates as “difficult” and “painful.” The couple divorced in 2021 after 27 years of marriage.
