Bank of Khyber, Sarhad Chamber Discuss SME Financing and Business Support

PESHAWAR: The Bank of Khyber (BoK) held a meeting with President of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) Junaid Altaf to discuss financial challenges faced by businesses, industries, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the agriculture sector.

The BoK delegation was led by Abdullah Ghaffar, Group Head Commercial, SME & Agricultural Finance Group, and Gul Buhar Khan, Group Head Retail Banking.

The meeting focused on key issues affecting access to finance, including credit availability, financing terms, interest rates, collateral requirements and documentation procedures.

Both sides agreed to facilitate access to SME financing for SCCI employees and organize a joint awareness session for SCCI’s SME members. The session will provide businesses with information about available financing facilities, eligibility requirements, terms and procedures, while also allowing members to raise their concerns directly with BoK officials.

The participants also discussed the Bank of Khyber’s Housing Finance Scheme for 5- to 10-marla houses and potential financing opportunities for members of the business community.

During the visit, the BoK delegation also met with Businessmen’s Forum Group Leader Ghazanfar Bilour and other representatives. Discussions covered SME financing, banking facilities and broader financial and economic challenges confronting the business community.

The engagements reflect efforts by the banking sector and business organizations to improve access to formal financing, particularly for SMEs, while strengthening financial support for entrepreneurship, agriculture and economic activity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
