BAHAWALNAGAR: The Forest Division Bahawalnagar has intensified enforcement against the illegal transportation of timber, directing sawmills and other relevant businesses to ensure registration in accordance with government rules.
On the directions of Deputy Conservator of Forests Bahawalnagar Muhammad Asif, all concerned sawmills and related establishments have been instructed to complete their registration under the applicable rules within one week.
According to the Forest Department, failure to comply with the registration requirements may result in the sealing of sawmills and other establishments under the Transit Rules. Vehicles involved in the illegal transportation of timber may also face a fine of Rs100,000 in accordance with the law.
The department further clarified that the initial registration fee for a sawmill is Rs100,000, while the applicable timber transportation permit fee is only Rs1,000.
Forest officials urged concerned stakeholders to complete the required registration and obtain proper permits to avoid legal action.
The Forest Division Bahawalnagar has reiterated that enforcement against illegal timber cutting and transportation will continue in order to protect forest resources and ensure compliance with forestry laws and government regulations.
