The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will field an 18-man squad for the Ireland-England series as it announced the squad on Thursday.
Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali have replaced Usama Mir and Zaman Khan,” said Mohammad Yousuf, who spoke at a press conference along with Abdul Razzak and Wahab Riaz.
Talking about Muhammad Rizwa’s injury, Yusuf said, “There are many improvements regarding Muhammad Rizwa’s injury. The national team is ready to play on all tickets and against all opponents.”
“Both Muhammad Rizwan and Irfan Khan are better,” he said.
Yusuf: “There are very few players in the team who play clean shots. This is something we have to fix. If there is fear of defeat, anything will help us. We have to play fearless cricket.”
He acknowledged Babar Azam’s role as captain and said, “Under Babar Azam’s captaincy, we are playing in the finals of Asia Cup 2022 and ICC T20 World Cup 2022.”
“No one is born a captain. But one has to learn the skills to be a captain. With Babar Azam leading the team, you will witness a positive change in the team,” he said.
“We will announce the vice captain of the team soon.”
Joseph Gary has explained that Kirsten will join the team in England.
Joseph said the playing conditions in New York will be similar to those in Ireland.
“99 percent of the wickets in different parts of the world match the guts and test the patience of the bowlers,” he said.
“Preparations are being made before the World Cup. We are monitoring the coordination of the team,” said Yusuf.
Meanwhile, Wahab Riaz recognized the talent of Usman Khan. “Usman Khan is a talented player but it’s time to rally behind him. Usman Khan has done it in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).”
“Talks have been held with captain and coach Gary Kirsten from the World Cup squad,” Riaz said.
Talking about pacer Haris Rauf, Riaz said, “Haris Rauf’s rehabilitation is on the way.”
“All teams are selected based on their good performances,” he said.
Meanwhile, expressing his opinion, Abdul Razzaq said, “We should not rush to announce the World Cup squad. All players can play on May 20.”
“Saim Ayub is a quality player. Saim just needs one game to regain his form,” said Razzaq, who was behind Saim Ayub’s opener.
