GUJRAT: A famous writer who captured the hearts of people with his works expressing his love and devotion for his home and society was praised by modern men and women at Hafiz Hayat on Wednesday.
The event titled ‘Images of Gujrat: Through the Pen of Sheikh Abdul Rashid’ was jointly organized by Gujrat Readers Club and Quaid-e-Azam Library as part of the ongoing book fair.
Renowned writer, poet and scientist Dr Sughra Sadaf was the chief guest. The guests of honor included Director General of Punjab Libraries Kashif Manzoor, Dr Amjad Tufail, Peer Zia-ul-Haq Naqshbandi, Kaleem Ehsan Butt, Gagan Shahid, Atiq Anwar Raja and Sheikh Abdul Rashid himself. Dr. Ruhsana Riaz from Reader’s Club was in the host chair.
Dr. Sugra Sadaf of Gujrat City of Education and Learning, said that historical research is a difficult task. He said, “Sheikh Abdul Rashid carefully digs up historical facts and lost links scattered in the corners of Gujrat. Through various biographical writings, Sheikh Abdul Rashid has tried to preserve the lost history of Gujrat for future generations.
Kashif Manzoor’s description of Sheikh Abdul Rasheed, “a dynamic, versatile and literary person”. Appreciating his work as a social historian, Manzoor said that the role of Sheikh Rashid is more like a history of Gujrat, who has a pen that not only writes but also writes well.
Similarly Zia-ul-Haq Naqshbandi emphasized the importance of book culture. Noting that “books are the source of knowledge and the soul of civilization,” he called for the publication of Sheikh Abdul Rashid’s books.
Kaleem Ehsan Butt described Sheikh Abdul Rashid as a lively personality who captured people’s hearts through his words.
Gagan Shahid says documenting local history is a difficult task. “Sheikh Abdul Rashid’s books are, in a word, a tribute to the writer we forget.” Atiq Anwar Raja said, Sheikh Abdul Rashid promotes the achievements of great figures for the younger generation. Sheikh Abdul Rashid’s straightforward and engaging style captivates the audience.
Sheikh Abdul Rashid said, the identity of Gujrat is the basis of his writing. “The extraordinary personality of Pakistan has emerged from this region. Writing about Gujrat is truly sad land. My love for the land of Gujrat is attached to my breath.”
Dr. Ruhsana Riaz said, Sheikh Abdul Rashid’s style of writing is interesting to the reader. He thanked the guests for attending the session.
This session was attended by many students, teachers, principals, principals and management staff including the former vice chancellor of KFUEIT, Dr. Muhammed Sulaiman Tahir.
