An Australian circus performer set two Guinness World Records in a single day for aerial hoop performances.
Charlotte ‘Charlie’ Meth, a 23-year-old from Victoria, Australia, achieved the records for the most aerial hoop somersaults (flips) in one minute and for hanging on the aerial hoop by her shoulders for the longest duration.
Speaking with Guinness World Records, she shared that she had seen someone break the aerial hoop somersault record on Instagram, and since she had been practicing this skill for about seven or eight years, she thought it was time to challenge herself and see how many somersaults she could do.
During her training, she managed 45 somersaults, but the record was 47, so she pushed herself further and continued practicing before attempting to break the record.
She also mentioned that the attempt came with significant challenges, including the risk of hamstring injury. After completing the attempt, she felt dizzy and struggled to stand.
Charlotte set the record by completing 53 somersaults. She also claimed the second record by hanging on the aerial hoop by her shoulders for 63.18 seconds.
